Murano Burano and TorcelloTHE GLASS ISLAND
Murano
On this island there are the most important glassworks, where the best Venetian glass masters work, who over the centuries have refined this form of art, making it unique and thus bringing trade beyond the continent. You can visit the furnaces to understand the glass working and blowing process and on the island there is the “glass museum”, it can therefore be interesting a visit to learn about the history and origins of this art recognized, appreciated and estimated all over the world. If you will buy glass, pay particular attention that it is “MADE IN MURANO”..

It will certainly be nice to take home some souvenir photos especially if a beautiful sunny day accompanies you. Burano is also known for the “merletti” handmade by local women with a particular pin weaving, in fact there are many retailers where you can buy these handcrafted fabrics and it is home to the “merletto museum” where you can learn about the history and origins of this manufacture. We also advise you to taste the typical “buranelli” biscuits, it will not be difficult to buy them in some local bakery or pastry shop.
